Don't Quit

Galatians 6 6-10 6 Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Probably the worst enemy of enthusiasm is time. We as humans and dwellers of this beautiful planet, have a weird way of getting tired of wonderful things. We all can think of something that we were once enthusiastic about, but now the joy has faded. On vacation at the beach, looking at the sunset, and enjoying your time away but on the 7th day that sunset doesn’t have the same meaning. Millionaires get tired of money, kids get tired of their toys. Christians get tired of doing good things.

You remember when you started going to church?, there was a certain level of excitement that went with meeting with the saints. Remember how you felt when you were in ministry? The excitement of being used and that feeling of purpose, that feeling of assignment, but now you might have grown weary in your well doing.

In Galatians 6:9 Let us not grow weary in WELL DOING, for in due season we shall reap if we don’t QUIT. This passage is letting us know there is a possibility of becoming tired, sad, frustrated, mad, or all of the above, in well doing. In reading this passage, I wanted to know what is the well doing? What is the well doing that I am not suppose to be tired of?

If we go Galatians 5:22 is the best answer to this question.

( in Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control)

The well doing you are not to be weary of is the fruit of the spirit.Don’t grow weary of loving | Don’t grow weary of being patient, | Don’t grow weary of being kind, |Don’t grow weary of being faithful |Don’t grow weary of being gentle |Don’t grow weary of in having self-control|Don’t grow weary of doing Good.

DON’T QUIT.

The bible is teaching us do NOT get weary of doing what I called you to do.

No matter what your assignment from God is, the fruit of the spirit Your knowledge base system. I have been in the I.T. field for almost 20 years, and each job, no matter theskill level, there was a knowledge base system. A knowledge base is a place where most of the answers to the problems that the end user may have are. So when i was on the phone or out in the field and you need to know how to do something you would pull up the knowledge base and it will tell you how to do it. The Fruit of the spirit is our knowledge base, as we are on assignment for GOD. In Galatians 5; 25 If we live by the spirit , let us also keep in step with the spirit. On our assignment, the fruit of the spirit is how we answer each scenario that life gives us . Love Joy peace Patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness self-control.

So what happens when you are weary? When we allow ourselves to become weary in that “well doing “ sin has the potential to seep in . When we ARE weary in well doing it gives place for your flesh to rise

Look at Galatians 5 19-21 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[e] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

When you get weary in well doing, it gives place to the flesh; in the flesh, not only do these things reside, and could have influence over us, but you will NOT reap the kingdom of God.

In Galatians 6; 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life DON’T QUIT

Trust me - I understand how hard it is; to not grow weary in loving your brother and sister. We sometimes can grow weary from extending patience and kindness to people. I understand, because sometimes you may think we should reap the Love, the kindness, the patience and those things back, as we have extended it to other. The bible teaches us, that when you sow in the spirit, you reap eternal life. That’s why you shouldn’t be weary in well doing, your eternal life is at stake. We cannot allow LIFE to have us to be so weary of the well doing, that you end up separated from GOD. Don’t be weary in well doing, don’t feel like everything you are doing for the kingdom is a waste of time. Don’t treat the work of the Lord, like the last day of your vacation, where it just becomes old hat. Your due season is coming, You can't quit. You have too much invested in this. Most of us have something that God has told us to do that now has become old hat. It doesn’t have that same excitement like it used to. What was it?

Think back, what was that ministry that you knew GOD dropped in your heart to the point where you told the pastor, Pastor GOD called me to do XYZ.

You remember that excitement?

God told me to tell you DON’T QUIT.

DON’T QUIT

Amen
