As the granddaughter of a pastor and the daughter of a chairman deacon, I found it difficult to find my own way, believe it or not, when it was time to make a serious commitment to God. Although I was saved at an early age, I also struggled with my faith through my teen and young adult years, as many PKs do. Gratefully, I made my decision to fully commit my life to Christ in the early years of my marriage and I have remained faithful to God for more than 40 years.I was educated in the Chesapeake Schools and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Hampton University. Following my graduation from college, I met and married the love of my life. Together, we are the parents of three children, Rhonda, Micahl, and Benjamin. I also began my teaching career with Virginia Beach City Public Schools the year that we were married. After Ben was born, I returned to school and received a Masters Degree in Elementary Guidance and Counseling from Old Dominion University, and continued my career in education as an Elementary Guidance Counselor. I continued in that position for over 15 years. I later was assigned to Kemps Landing Magnet School in Virginia Beach as the Guidance Department Chair, and remained there until I retired in 2010. During my successful tenure at Kemps Landing, I was privileged to be named Kemps Landing Teacher of the Year in 2006, received both the Humanitarian Award by the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission and the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Award from the Hampton Roads Urban League in 2009.As the wife of the pastor, I have worked closely beside my husband at Mt. Sinai Family Life Center as worship leader, as Executive Pastor in charge of administration and as an ordained Elder. I have been blessed to lead worship experiences locally and internationally. Laboring at Mt. Sinai has indeed been a labor of love. The officers and members give and receive love and can always be depended on to go the extra mile to help others.
I feel blessed to have been called into the ministry where there is love and acceptance. Mt. Sinai is THE place to be!
